(is Boston her real name???? Yes! Liz grew up with the name Boston. Her married name is Moore, but she still uses Boston for her art!)

OUR STORY

 

 

​Liz Boston is a local artist from Weymouth, MA. She went to the School of the Museum of Fine Art in Boston, and graduated their four year studio art program with a focus in painting. She has also studied under her mentor, Edwina Caci, a Copley Society portrait painter for many years. 

Liz is the past president of the Weymouth Art Association, and organized the Mural Project behind the Weymouth Tufts library. She was also a board member of the Quincy Art Association for a few years and maintained their website during that time.

Liz also sat on the board of the Massachusetts Cultural Council for Weymouth for 1 year.

 

Liz currently runs the facebook Group "Bostons South Shore Artists" for the professional artist community in the South Shore area to keep everyone up to date with local shows, oportunities, and happenings for artists. Membership is limited to professional artists who live in the area, membership requests are carefully screened. ART CLASSES

ACRYLIC PAINTING - OIL PAINTING - DRAWING

Kids Acrylic Painting        (ages 6-12)                         Thursdays  4:30 - 6:00pm

$20./class per student   
Buy a set of 5 classes for $18/student

Maximum 15 Students per class
All supplies included. One 9"x12" canvas panel, paint, use of studio brushes, pencils, and erasers.

This class will teach the basics of mixing colors, and how to draw from a photograph based on simplifying the image into shapes. Object placement will be explained as well as light and shadow.
Most children complete their painting in 2-3 classes.

Every student works on their own project at their own pace.

PAINTING

In this class, students will learn the technique of painting, how to use the brush, and apply the paint. Color mixing, drawing, and placement of images will be covered. Color theory and painting techniques will be explained. Paintings are not completed in a single class, but carry over to multiple classes. Bring a photo to paint from.

DRAWING

If the student wants to draw and not paint, they will bring a pad of bristol paper, a set of drawing pencils, and a photo to work from. They will learn how to draw freehand by simplifying the photo into shapes and drawing them, shading, and proper use of drawing pencils is also explained.

Bring a clearly printed photo to work from. 


In this class learn how to see an image by referencing shapes and lines and learning their relational placement to one another for accurate rendering onto the canvas. Color theory and color mixing will be taught along with painting technique. This is a great class for people to hone their skills or for beginners just starting out. Bring a photo to paint from.

 

DRAWING

General Guidelines for all classes

 

  • Wear clothing that can be ruined. You will be using paint, and be around paint that does not wash out.
     

  • Parents are allowed to stay during class if they would like, but are asked to stay to the side of the room and not to interact with the students or interfere with the class.
     

  • For up to date information on class cancellations or weather related class information please check the facebook page. All class cancellation communications will be done through the facebook page. Cancelled classes will either be rescheduled or refunded if already paid for.
     

  • Scheduling updates will be posted on the website, such as no class due to a Holiday, or classes taking a hiatus for the summer months.
     

  • Classes must be paid for by cash or credit card at least 1 week in advance. Classes that are paid for in advance are not refundable, and must be used consecutively without skipping any available scheduled class times, however, you can choose to pay for the next weeks class during your current class as opposed to paying months at a time.

    To guarantee your spot, you must sign up and pay for your class at least 1 week in advance, if a class time does not have anyone signed up for it the class will not be held that day.
